The Alchemy of Self-Recognition: A Letter To Myself
Matthew, I see you. For the first time in a long time, I really see you.
And I’m proud of you.
I’m proud of your willingness to keep your heart open. I’m proud of how you hold onto love, grace, and compassion, even in the midst of pain and chaos. I know life hasn’t been easy for you. Much of your struggle was never acknowledged by the people you needed most. Much of your pain was dismissed, ignored, or avoided. And yet... you never gave up.
It would have been easy to slip into despair. And yes, at times you did. But even then, you chose to rise. You took charge of your transformation. You engaged not just with life, but with God and the Universe. You demanded truth, and you received it... even when it was hard to swallow. You showed up, in your own way, in your own time, at your own pace. You chose to keep walking toward what you knew was true.
You’ve valued love and wisdom more than gold and power. You’ve walked away from those who tried to shrink you, who demanded conformity for the sake of their comfort. You left the safety of your tribe when the cost was inauthenticity. You chose to walk alone through the valley of shadow rather than settle for the false promises of counterfeit light.
Your path hasn’t been easy. You’ve carried the roles of the Martyr, the Wounded Healer, the Disempowered One... believing you had to fix yourself in order to belong. Believing that love was conditional, earned through performance and sacrifice. You tried to make yourself indispensable, by being “the wise one,” “the one who always cares,” even when what you really needed was care for yourself.
And yet, you’ve shifted. You’ve reclaimed your sovereignty. You’ve chosen to live not from self-sacrifice, but from self-honoring. You’re becoming the kind of healer who doesn’t save, but points others back to the Healer within. Much of the work you’ve done has gone unseen. But I see it. I see your commitment, your pursuit of truth, your willingness to face every layer of yourself. That work is rare. That work is sacred. That work is you. And I love you for it.
Acknowledge your gifts. Your empathy without boundaries once caused you pain, but you’ve sharpened it into discernment. You offer grace, compassion, and warmth so naturally you don’t even recognize the impact it has on others. This is your medicine. This is what makes you unique. You’ve stepped away from martyrdom and claimed your throne as the Emperor of your life. And still... you guide others to do the same.
You know now that you are the creator of your experience, co-creating with the Divine from a place of gratitude. You recognize that all things, even the hardest, work together for the highest good. And even when your core wounds flare... when you feel lost, misunderstood, or left behind... you still lift your eyes upward and hold fast to the knowing of who you are, and what you came here to do.
Matthew, I want you to know how proud I am of you. I want you to know your sacrifices, your struggle, and the wisdom you’ve gathered are not small things. They are treasure. This is the gold. You understand transformation is a lifelong process, and you’ve found a way to make the journey grounded, exciting, and empowering... even in the middle of the growing pains.
To all the parts within me... the inner child, the wounded warrior, the mystic, the doubter, even the shadow... I am grateful. I am who I am because of you. This letter is an act of recognition. An acknowledgment of the Great Work you’ve been doing all along. The alchemy of turning pain into power, loss into love, shadow into light.
I see you. I honor you. And I love you.
Keep going.
Keep showing up.
Strive not for perfection, but presence.
Allow yourself the chance to keep becoming who you came here to be.
If you’re reading this and something stirs inside you... maybe it’s time to write your own letter. To recognize your own path, your own survival, your own Great Work. What would it sound like if you finally said... “I see you”?
